Bacolod City Celebrates 2012 Masskara Festival


Last October 19 to 21, 2012, Negros Occidental, Bacolod City celebrates their highlight events such as MassKara Street Dance, Electric MassKara Float Parade, street dance competitions, media mall show and parade with GMA Network and ABS-CBN icons and celebrities.

Another highlight event is the giant puppets of La Consolacion College (LCC). Every year, Giant Puppet can be seen and many tourist awaits that portion. MassKara Festival is considered the most known festival here in the Philippines. Tourists like it most due to the very colorful faces they seen which represents the hospitality and being a friendly character of all people living in Bacolod City.


Actually, MassKara festival is almost a 1 month celebration. It will start every October 1 up to October 22, every year. But the main events can usually be seen on October 19-21. There are lot of things to do when you get there. Numerous night parties and concerts. So better pack thing earlier before those dates if you want to join and witness the next MassKara Festival event.

The Origin of the MassKara Festival


The MassKara Festival was first organized last 1980 at a time when the province of Negros Occidental was in a period of crisis. Civic groups, local government officials and Bacolod’s artists came up with a festival that emphasizes smiles, happiness and optimism. As the MassKara Festival lasted through the years, it solidified Bacolod’s reputation as a city of smiles and made it a strong competitor in the field of tourism.
